Stop and Go

After a long 3 week break, I had to start hiking again. It wasn't difficult gathering a group - thanks to the ever enthusiastic Seattle Folks. Seven Six (also read: Vignesh dropped out) of us started out aiming for the very strenuous, not for the weak Cable Line trail on the West Tiger 3 peak. We were very well prepared - with enough water bottles, junk food and an elaborate lunch plan (Veggie Fajita Bowl - you know from where) - albeit without spoons. We were set for an adventurous hike.

One hour into the hike, we were still at the parking lot looking for the elusive cable line trail head. I expected a slight delay. Eventually, we decided to skip the Cable Line trail and move ahead with the regular West Tiger 3 trail. Very quickly, it became obvious that if I was taking a 3 week break to catch my breadth, it was a bad idea. :) Someone told us we could take a detour and join the cable line somewhere along the trail. It took us 90 odd minutes to find the diversion - except this was when we were 300 feet from the top. :) We reached the top shortly expecting amazing views, especially considering the view we had just a few steps ago.

At the top, we took a nice long 40 minute break - some of us had lunch while others fed birds. We had quite some company up there - ten men, ten women, twenty kids and shadows of the para-gliders hovering up above. We started climbing down around 4, bumped into a few familiar faces on the way and were back to the car in one and half hours.

Overall, it was a fun hike - a little far from what cable line was supposed to be but nevertheless, it was a fun start.
